TRISP: The Training and Research Institute for Self Psychology

The Training and Research Institute for Self Psychology (TRISP) is a Self Psychologically oriented psychoanalytic training institute in New York City. The institute is dedicated to providing training to clinicians, moderate-cost psychotherapy to the community, and educational programs.

TRISP was founded in 1987 as the first Self Psychological training institute in the country. Its tradition of intellectual vitality in an empathic and supportive setting continues through two training programs for mental-health practitioners. Both are built upon a theoretical foundation that comprises Self Psychology, Intersubjectivity theory, and Relational Theory.

TRAINING

The TRISP One Year Introductory Program is designed for those interested in learning what self psychology and the theory of intersubjectivity contribute to a contemporary understanding of people, their behavior, and their inner experience.  It is open to clinicians as well as a general audience; accordingly, no license is required for this program.

WORKSHOPS, CONFERENCES
TRISP serves as the hub for a vibrant community of mental-health practitioners and non-clinicians, united by their interest in Self Psychology and Intersubjectivity and committed to advancing psychoanalytic theory and practice. The institute sponsors events for all interested members of the community.
