TRISP One-Year Certificate Programs in Intersubjective Self Psychology

First Year Foundations Program & Second Year Advanced Program

Training and Research in Intersubjective Self Psychology (TRISP) is now accepting applications to our 2023-2024 one-year, remote-learning certificate programs in Intersubjective Self Psychology (ISP). Licensed clinicians are welcome to apply to the First Year Foundations Program and we welcome back current students continuing onto the Second Year Advanced Program study of ISP.

The first-year program will provide students with a thorough grounding in the basic concepts of Intersubjective Self Psychology and an understanding of the clinical skills needed to become competent and effective therapists. Students who complete the one-year program are eligible for a second year in the advanced ISP program, which focuses on clinical applications of the theory and development of students’ independent ideas.

Each program is divided into eight educational units, each unit addressing an essential theme from our book, Intersubjective Self Psychology: A Primer. The first year will focus on themes that are central to the theory of ISP: empathy, the selfobject transferences, intersubjectivity, therapeutic action, trailing edge and leading edge. In the second year an ISP understanding of melancholia, addiction, child therapy, couples therapy, gender and sexuality, and suicidality will be addressed. Students will also develop independent projects on an ISP theme of their choosing.

Each month, five hours will be devoted to a specific educational unit: a one-and-a-half hour session covering theory; a one-and-a-half-hour group supervision session; and a two-hour clinical workshop, open to program participants and the wider community. The program will be offered remotely on two Friday afternoons per month, from 4:00 to 5:30pm (ET). In addition, a two-hour workshop, also remote, will be offered, from 6:00 to 8:00pm (ET) immediately following the second of the two monthly meetings.

Each educational unit qualifies for 5 continuing education credits, for a total of 40 CE credits for each full program year. TRISP is certified to provide CE credits to psychologists, social workers, psychoanalysts, and LMHCs in New York State.

The cost is $1,000 for the program; $925 for TRISP members. Individual supervision at a fixed rate of $100/session is available to enrolled students.

Interested applicants for the Foundations Program should email trispfoundation@gmail.com a statement of your interest, your CV, and a copy of your license.
