TRISP kicks off the 2014 events with a paper I’m presenting entitled Bioself-Psychological Model of the Obsessive-Compulsive Character Disorder (OCCD). My colleagues Peter Zimmermann and George Hagman will discuss the paper and we’d love for you to be there! In this paper I’m building on my earlier work with Maria Miliora on panic disorder in which we developed the bioself-psychological model. In the new paper I use a graphic diagram to depict the multidimensional aspects of my OCCD model which synthesizes a variety of disciplines including psychoanalysis, and, in particular self psychology as well as intersubjectivity – or the extremely meaningful term intersubjective self psychology, coined by Peter – neuropsychoanalysis, cognitive neuroscience, and the cognitive-behavioral approach. I’ll discuss the role of attention, or lack thereof, in the experience of OCCD and I’ll present two representative cases – Eli, or the case of Answers and Questions and Miriam or the case of Shoulds and Shouldn’ts. We look forward to a great discussion and invite your participation. See the Events page for more information.
