TRISP One-Year Certificate Programs in Intersubjective Self Psychology

Intersubjective Self Psychology Primer Program and ISP Study Group

Training and Research in Intersubjective Self Psychology (TRISP) is now accepting applications to our 2026-2027 one-year, remote-learning certificate programs in Intersubjective Self Psychology (ISP). Licensed clinicians are welcome to apply to the Intersubjective Self Psychology Primer Program and we welcome back former and current students continuing onto the ISP Study Group.

The ISP Primer program will provide students with a thorough grounding in the basic concepts of Intersubjective Self Psychology and will also explore a range of clinical applications of the theory. Students who complete the one-year program are eligible to continue on to the ISP Study Group for deeper and on-going study of topics related to ISP.

The Primer program is divided into sixteen educational units, each unit addressing an essential theme from our book, Intersubjective Self Psychology: A Primer. Topics include empathy, the selfobject transferences, intersubjectivity, therapeutic action, trailing edge and leading edge. In addition, applications of ISP to melancholia, addiction, child therapy, couples therapy, gender and sexuality, and suicidality will be addressed.

Over a span of eight months from October to May students will participate in sixteen one-and-a-half hour sessions and eight two-hour clinical workshops. The program is taught remotely on two Friday afternoons per month, from 4:00 to 5:30pm (ET). Each month, a two-hour workshop, also remote, will be offered, from 6:00 to 8:00pm (ET) immediately following the second of the two monthly meetings.

A total of 40 CE credits for each full program year are available. TRISP is certified to provide CE credits to psychologists, social workers, psychoanalysts, and LMHCs in New York State.

The cost is $1,200 for the ISP Primer Program. Individual supervision at a fixed rate of $100/session is available to enrolled students.

Students who complete the ISP Primer year may elect to continue on to the ISP Study Group during which special topics in Intersubjective Self Psychology will be explored in four 4-session modules, each taught by a single TRISP faculty member.  A total of 24 CE credits for each full program year are available. TRISP is certified to provide CE credits to psychologists, social workers, psychoanalysts, and LMHCs in New York State.

The cost is $1,000 for the ISP Study Group. Individual supervision at a fixed rate of $100/session is available to enrolled students.
